I probably heard the three words that my son said to me today a thousand times. I don't know why they affected me in the way they did today but they did.I was dropping Zach off at school this morning and he said "Bye Dad" as he shut the car door. I drove off and the first word hit me, Dad. Yes I was Dad and a warm feeling of love and pride hit me. I was his Dad and he is my Son. A word I share with so many other men but uniquely only I possess.
Later that day when I picked him up from school I took him to his Mother's he said the other two words. "Love You Dad". Yeah, the word Dad took on a new meaning. I don't have to say anymore, as any parent knows how I felt when I heard those words. He probably didn't realize or think twice what he had said. Yesterday or last week it may have been said and I didn't give it a second thought. But for some reason today it meant the world to me.
Thanks, and Love You Too, Son.
