Before

Before the ribbons, bracelets and telethons, a simple Red Poppy was the token you wore to show your support. No money was asked but the desire to give took care of that. To give a few coins or a folded dollar bill to those who had given so much already. In homes all across the country you can find the "Buddy Poppy," some in a drawer or tucked away in a special place. Always saved, this simple reminder of the brave.

Last Saturday my son Zach took part in this noble cause and once again my pride as a father soared to a new height. The next generation, giving and volunteering to show the American spirit is alive and well. Thanks Zach and your fellow members of the J.R.O.T.C!
